Whether you just said YES to the love of your life, about to start the first task of your wedding checklist, or you are so close to wedding day that you can smell the roses, here are some great tips for you and your fiance for every step of the way!
Create a wedding email
Creating a wedding email helps keep everything and everyone in the same space. And when you are done with the wedding ..click DELETE!
Have a meeting with the powers at be (like The Sopranos) to talk budget, talk guest list, etc.
Take this time to set proper expectations, like who is going to be contributing to the wedding. How much? And who has the final say on what goes (which should always be you and your fiance!)
Hire a wedding planner..
Of course this would be a tip! And this tip is primarily for those clients that work a full time job, already have busy lives and planning a wedding is just something they cannot take on top of everything else. So hire a wedding planner from the beginning..
Start looking for a dress…
If you know that you want a custom Vera Wang dress, then you should get to the boutique as soon as possible. However, if you don’t have a particular custom dress in mind, you can still find the perfect wedding dress at your local dress boutique. If you don’t find a dress off the rack with minimal changes, it can take about 4-6 months to complete. To new order dress will take about 8-9 months to come arrive plus any alterations that might be needed.
Don’t take it all upon yourself! Start delegating now so you don’t pull your hair out later..
Delegate some of your tasks to your fiance or bridal party. When someone asks you if you need any help, but be shy and say no. Even if it’s a simple “can you pick this item up for me?” Take the help!
Insert a “task-list break” on that checklist
Wedding planning can overtake your life! So schedule a time (like a weekend..or two) to not plan a thing. Go on a date with your fiance and don’t talk about anything wedding related. Instead talk about your future AFTER the wedding. Honestly, that is what is most important in the end.
Visit a wedding expo
Visiting an wedding expo can help you find wedding inspiration and even some last minute vendors. Make sue you stay till the end-you can win some awesome prizes!
Hire a wedding planner!
Yes, I am bringing this back up again. It is imperative for you to find someone to hand over all of the hard work you’ve been doing thus far. Sidenote: “Day of” coordinator” is not a real thing. No one person can come in the day of the wedding and run the show. A true wedding planner starts managing the final details a couple months out from your wedding day. There are so many moving parts leading up to and on the day of the wedding. So most coordinators have basic wedding management packages available-which trust me you’ll need it! (steps off my soapbox )
Obtain your marriage license
This is an important step that can hold up any wedding if it doesn’t happen. And each county, city or state has their own rules. Make sure to do your research on what your city of residence requires!
Make sure to schedule a breakfast and/or lunch for wedding day
The BIG day is finally here! There is a good chance you’ll be nervous and/or excited. Make sure you don’t drink all the champagne/mimosas or beers without substance in your belly!
These tips are just a few things that can help you and your fiancé crush the wedding planning journey!
But if you are like most couples and even these simple tasks are a bit overwhelming, that is okay! That’s why they are companies like ours exist! We have the knowledge and the tools necessary to ensure the wedding planning is smooth, stress-free and fun!
